"Line as color has been my comfort zone for quite a while as evidenced in the nod received for Strokes of Genius 13. Since then, fellow misfits, dreamers, and creatives watched me go kicking and screaming from one medium to another; a cautious journey from vine charcoal on Roma paper to soft pastel on Arches, facilitated by a season of cross-training with watercolors. Fortunately, being retired to the artistic life imbues one with unbridled courage and a copious amount of time. Imagine my delight in discovering the selected piece, SFW1 (i.e., Studies From Watercolors #1 in the series), emerged from a drawing technique that required multiple layers – too numerous to count – of pigment to achieve an effect just as luscious and luminescent as a painting."
